Independent Study

Remote INdependent Study

LLESD staff will be focused on in-person instruction as our default learning model in 2021-22  (97-98% have selected in-person instruction).  Temporary legislation that allowed for distance learning (with all the requirements) as an option in 2020-21 has expired. We are offering program choice with what we are legally allowed to do

  • For families concerned about health/medical reasons. Remote Independent Study is available as a learning option for this school year only with AB 130
    • Remote Independent Study IS NOT Virtual Classroom programming as students experienced in 2020-21. It is, as the title suggests, Independent Study - meaning that students will learn at home with support provided to them by Menlo Park City Schools staff.
    • Instructional Expectations:

      • Grade-level standards, rigor, intellectual challenge

      • K-3: daily synchronous (live) instruction

      • 4-8: daily live interaction AND weekly synchronous instruction

      • No minimum instructional minutes for above

    • Students taught under the supervision of a California credentialed teacher for that subject area

    • Similar staffing ratio as in-person teaching

    • Outline what academic supports are provided to students
